Meals on Wheels – Hot Meals

Meals on Wheels is a volunteer-driven program that provides hot nutritious meals to home-bound or isolated seniors and to those with reduced autonomy. The Meals on Wheels program in the West Island began in a church kitchen in Lachine in 1969. Now, more than 800 volunteer shoppers, cooks, and drivers work in 13 Meals on Wheels kitchens throughout the West Island. Volunteers come from all walks of life and include retired workers, business professionals, homemakers, teachers, entrepreneurs, and many others. Their combined efforts allow over 400 people, who have been referred through hospitals, CLSCs, and rehabilitation centers to receive hot lunches at minimal cost.

What are Hot Meals?
The meals consist of a balanced main and a dessert. All meals are freshly cooked, hot, home-made and prepared by our volunteers who add a special secret ingredient: their love. Meals are delivered by our volunteers 2 times a week directly to your home.

Meals on Wheels – Frozen Meals

We offer a frozen meal program for vulnerable people in the West Island. A medical or social service referral is required to access this service. The menu offers a wide selection of low-sodium and low-fat options including a variety of soups and desserts. Meal prices range from $5.00 to $7.00 and $3.00 for soups or desserts. A delivery fee of $3.50 applies while the total order cannot be less than $20.00.* Orders are delivered directly to your home by our wonderful volunteers.

You can order a maximum of 15 meals, 15 soups, while dessert quantities cannot exceed # of meals.

Call to place your order anytime during our business hours; the deadline to order is Wednesday at 12pm to receive your meals the following Thursday morning.
