Young at Heart, ages 55 and up

VWI organizes courses and weekly activities that encourage intellectual, physical, and cultural engagement for seniors. We aim to support seniors in profiting from social interactions while bettering their mental and physical health.

Therapy Animal Visits “Caring Paws”

A dedicated group of volunteers offers therapy animal visits to people from diverse centers of the Ouest Island and surrounding communities.

Recognizing the therapeutic bond that exists between animals and people, the program is offered to citizens who reside in retirement homes, hospitals, long-term care facilities, universities, CEGEPs and other public institutions. The benefits of animals for people of all ages are numerous. They are often referred to as companionship, reassurance, and affection, but they also help calm agitated people, stimulate conversations, improve reading skills, and reduce student stress during exam times.
